Instructional Media

The term comes from the Latin media, which is the plural form of medium. Literally means a

broker or an introduction. General understanding is anything that can channel the

information from the source of information to recipients of information.

Media by AECT is anything that people use to distribute messages. While Gagne defines as a

type of component media in an environment that can stimulate their students to learn. Briggs

interpret the media as a tool to provide incentives for students so that learning occurs

The term describes the business learning more teachers to make their students' learning.

Learning activities could be meaningless if it does not produce on their students' learning

activities. Learning activities will only succeed if the learning is actively experience the

learning process. A teacher can not represent students' learning. A student can not be said

to have learned just because she was in one room with teachers who are teaching.

Teaching job does not always have to be interpreted as presenting lesson activities.

Although the presentation of the subject matter was part of the learning activities, but not

the only one. There are still many other ways that teachers can do to make students learn.

The role of the teacher should do is see to it that every student can interact actively with

the various sources of existing hall.

Instructional media is media that is used in learning, which include teachers in teaching

aids and other means of carrying messages from the source of learning to learn the message

recipient (the student). As a presenter and distributor of the message, the media learned in

certain matters could represent teacher learning information to students. If the

media program was designed and developed properly, then the function will be portrayed by

the media even without the presence of teachers.

The increasing role of the media often raise concerns to the teacher. But actually it does

not need to happen, there are many other tasks such as teachers: provide individual

attention and guidance to students who have been less attention. Teus this condition will

occur during the teacher thinks he is the only source of learning for students. If teachers

use various instructional media properly, teachers can share the role with the media. The

role of teachers will be more directed as a responsible manager of learning and create

conditions so that students can learn. For that more function teachers as advisors,

mentors, motivators and facilitators in teaching and learning activities.
